Yeh Dil
Director:
Tejaa
Starring: Tusshar Kapoor, Natasha
Music: Nadeem-Shravan
Anandi
Art Creations' Yeh Dil is a love story of a rich boy and a milkman's daughter.
Stiff family opposition forms the major obstacle in the path of the love-birds
who are tortured mentally and even physically by their unrelenting family
members. Separated from each other, they do whatever they can to unite.
Ultimately, love triumphs.
The story is as old as the hills and the treatment of the dated drama
is so melodramatic and ancient that the love story fails to strike a chord.
in the viewers' hearts. While the rich father's objection to his son's
love affair is understandable, what the audience cannot in the least fathom
is why the doodhwala's family is against the alliance!
Surely, they couldn't be sad that the girl was in love with a guy richer
than them or angry that the boy's social status was much, much higher
than their own. Then, what's their problem in life?
And if there was some problem, why has it not been revealed to the audience
till the very end? Was it some national secret? The family members of
the girl act like maniacs.
when they learn of her affair and move heaven and earth to break the relationship,
for no apparent reason whatsoever. With such a weak base to the opposition,
the viewer fails to connect with the story after a while.
Besides, the incidents like the separated lovers crossing each other's
path on the railway platform without being aware of the other's presence,
are hackneyed.
and fail to move the public if only because they've been seen in countless
films earlier. Like the screenplay is replete with over-dramatic situations,
the dialogue too abound in clichés.
The
change of heart of the girl's father is quite sudden and unexplained.
The hero being held captive for a long time looks rather ridiculous in
today's age and times.
The climax is predictable and fails to evoke sentiments of any kind. The
ending, in which the hero is shown to become a milkman, is senseless.
There are a handful of scenes which touch the heart but they are few and
far between.
Tusshar acts ably as the lover-boy. Anita (Natasha) also does a good job
as the milkman's daughter and Tusshar's girlfriend. Pratima Kazmi is loud
but still comes up with a fine show.
Akhilendra Mishra, as Tusshar's father, does not suit the role of the
rich industrialist he plays. He overacts too. Vineet Kumar does well.
Saurabh Shukla is alright. Suresh Oberoi, Sharat Saxena and Mushtaq Khan
lend the desired support.
Tejaa's camerawork is far better than his direction which leaves a lot
to be desired. His narrative style is old-fashioned and he has not been
able to make the love story a moving tale of the two lovers.
Nadeem Shravan's music is appealing but the songs have not been able to
make a mark due to lack of publicity and face value of the film. The title
song, 'Tera dilbar', 'Hey kya ladki' and 'College mein' are well-tuned
numbers.
Song
picturisations are ordinary. Action scenes are crude and would appeal
to viewers in the interiors only, if at all. Production and other technical
values are fair.
On the whole, Yeh Dil is a non-starter. With nothing in the story to enable
it to pick up, the film, which has been delivered (to distributors) at
a phenomenal loss, will remain a heavy loser all the way.
